Wallenius Wilhelmsen has expanded its Brunswick, Georgia, port facility to house a customisation plant for Develon and Hyundai Construction Equipment.
The plant offers a 50 percent larger space, now spanning 95,000 sq ft, accommodating production lines, parts storage and equipment customisation capabilities.
The facility is one of five high and heavy equipment processing buildings at Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s Brunswick terminal. The plant focuses on assembly, customisation, inspection, and paint work for excavators, wheel loaders and other construction equipment. It is also equipped with six assembly areas, 11 overhead cranes and an advanced parts storage system.
“Our new customisation plant in Brunswick will allow us to expedite our services for our dealers and customers,” said Chris Jeong, president and ceo of Develon, noting the facility’s increased capacity for handling custom orders. Located near Interstate 95, the plant’s proximity to major transportation routes allows for distribution to dealers across North America, offering customised machines within 30 days.
Stan Park, president and ceo of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America, emphasised the plant’s role in reducing lead times for fully assembled equipment, further enhancing service capabilities for dealers and end-users.
In April, Wallenius Wilhelmsen and Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) signed a 20-year terminal agreement consolidating the company’s port and logistics operations at the port of Brunswick.
