Africa is a key frontier market for the project logistics sector with major investments across energy, mining, infrastructure and manufacturing. From oil and gas expansion in the west to renewable energy growth in the north and east, the continent presents vast – albeit complex – opportunities for the sector.

Africa continues to witness major developments in infrastructure such as railways, bridges, roads and industrial plants, as well as energy projects (including renewables) and new discoveries of mineral, oil and gas reserves both onshore and offshore. The west coast – especially Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria – as well as Angola, the Guinea area and Namibia have all been busy, with oil and gas prominent in these countries.

ExxonMobil is among those continuing to invest in Africa. The oil company hosted Africa Oil Week last year; its plans on the continent include expansion in Angola.

In the east, of course, in Mozambique “everyone is gearing up for the Coral North FLNG project, waiting for the go-ahead to start seismic work,” said Paul Okpurughre, managing director of Harren Group’s Nigeria office. “We hope now the riots will calm down and work can start again.”
