August 28 - Volga-Dnepr has delivered a shipment of 1,236,000 Muksun fish to help repopulate the freshwater Ob River basin in northern Russia.
The whitefish were transported in four 2.5 tonne water containers with oxygen tanks from St. Petersburg to Salekhard onboard one of the B737 freighters operated by AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC).
To ensure the wellbeing of the fish during the journey, the aircraft's cargo hold was maintained within a 12-14°C temperature range, while the Muksun were accompanied by fish breeding experts.
The company developed a special loading plan for the flight and used bespoke equipment to unload the fish in their water containers on arrival in Salekhard.
The delivery was organised by Volga-Dnepr and ABC on behalf of air charter broker Air Charter Service (ACS).
