June 17 - Volga-Dnepr Group signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing for 20 747-8 freighters, which have a price of USD7.4 billion and will form part of AirBridgeCargo Airlines' (ABC) fleet.
As a part of the deal, Volga-Dnepr will provide long-term logistics support to Boeing using its Antonov AN-124-100 freighter aircraft.
"Together with Boeing, we will keep the unique technology of air logistics offering both the Antonov-124-100 and our expanded Boeing 747 fleet for the benefits of global customers," said Alexey Isaikin, president, Volga-Dnepr Group.
The 747-8 freighters will be integrated into ABC's scheduled services. Meanwhile, Volga-Dnepr's AN-124-100s will be used to assist Boeing ship components around the world.
Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group currently operates 10 AN-124-100 and five IL-76TD-90VD heavy lift cargo aircraft. The fleet also includes 14 B747s, comprised of five B747-400ERFs, three B747-400 freighters, six B747-8 freighters, plus three B737-400Fs.
