The port of Oostende’s subsidiary REBO has opened its 6,900 sq m warehouse at the Belgian port.
Since the port of Oostende acquired the remaining shares of REBO back in October 2019, the terminal operator has diversified from being an offshore wind terminal into a multipurpose heavy lift facility. The opening of the warehouse, the port said, guarantees the further rollout of that strategy.
The warehouse represents an investment of around EUR3.5 million (USD3.8 million). REBO will operate the facility under its own management.
Dirk Declerck, ceo and managing director of the port of Oostende and REBO, said: “To strengthen the port’s continuity, the REBO warehouse is an important investment. Besides its exclusive location, the presence of heavy weight quays, and a ro-ro pontoon with a carrying capacity of 650 tonnes, this warehouse is an extra asset that will help attract additional maritime traffic.”
