July 18 - OLA Logistics, based in Hong Kong and a Project Cargo Network (PCN) member there has completed the breakbulk transport of two sets of rotary drilling rigs.

The first of the two machines measured 17.4 m x 3.5 m x 3.7 m and weighed 53.57 tonnes. The second machine measured 15.9 m x 3.1 m x 3.3 m and weighed 41 tonnes. In total, the consignment was made up of 20 pieces, weighing 185,983 kg / 497.1 cb m.

In other news, German PCN member Intertransport GRUBER, in cooperation with Estonian Gold Star Consulting has finished the transportation of four generators, each weighing 30 tons (27.2 tonnes) and measuring 4.1 m x 3 m x 3 m.

The generators were collected in Harjumaa, Estonia and moved by truck to the Port of Paldiski, where they were shipped by barge to Antwerp. From there, the generators were unloaded and taken to Duisberg, Germany by truck.

Meanwhile, PCN member Sovereign Logistics, Kenya was contracted to Customs clear and deliver a GRT tank from Mombasa Port to Ruaka in Kiambu Country.

Sovereign coordinated Customs procedures including documentation, securing the relevant permits and certificates for the road haulage as per regulations, and handled the delivery of the cargo from Mombasa Port to Ruaka, a distance of approximately 512 km.

Due to the out-of-gauge (OOG) dimensions of the tank, the transport required a low-loader in addition to pre-arranged permits and an escort. The challenges encountered included axle load limits and restrictions on moving the cargo during daylight hours only with speed limits of 40-50 km/h, enforced by the Kenya National Highway Authority.
