March 3 - The Port of Milwaukee has announced that 2.4 million tonnes of cargo and 274 vessels moved through the port in 2016.
Milwaukee saw an increase of more than 50 percent in the amount of cargo that moved through the St. Lawrence Seaway in 2016, with a total of approximately 447,000 tonnes. This included notably high volumes of steel and outbound agricultural products.
Milwaukee experienced a decline in deliveries of salt which is the largest commodity handled at the port, but this decline was offset by an increase in the volume of grain and tonnage of raw materials used in manufacturing.
