Jurong Port progresses with Project Logistics Hub expansion with OMC2 launch

Jurong Port will manage the shared facilities of JTC’s new Offshore Marine Centre (OMC) 2, bringing together more than 100 ha of land with water depth ranging from 5-15.7 m deep, and ground-bearing capacity of up to 25 tonnes per sq m. The facilities are targeted at marine and offshore engineering users.

JTC developed OMC1 and OMC2 to provide shared access to ready-built staging areas and berths for activities such as fabrication, assembly, as well as for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of offshore rigs, modules, and equipment. Designed to address the demand for limited waterfront access land for industrial use, Jurong Port said facilities offer plug-and-play infrastructure solutions for varying business needs and heavy operations.

Built with higher floor loading and deeper draught, OMC 2 is receiving interest from industry players ahead of it commencing operations in Q2 2023.

Located in Tuas, Jurong Port will manage both OMC1 and OMC2 as part of its Project Logistics Hub (PLH) expansion to support the development of the offshore renewables sector. Jurong Port has a strong background in supporting heavy industry and project cargo operations, which have included mobilising equipment for offshore wind farms and the transhipment of LNG modules.
