Haropa Port’s Bougainville quay is being used to support the port of Le Havre with the storage of wind turbine blades for an offshore project owned by Siemens Gamesa.
Bougainville quay was used to build the gravity-based foundations of the Fécamp offshore wind farm, off the west coast of France. Between July and mid-August 2024 alone, 24 maritime transfers were organised from the factory to the project.
Presently, 93 blades are being stored on the quayside, pending delivery to offshore wind farms off the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.
27 maritime transfers are scheduled for January 2025 to enable the storage of 105 additional blades, with 42 being used for the Vendéen project and 63 for the Dieppe – Le Tréport project.
France has national ambitions of achieving a 33 percent share of renewable energy in its energy mix by 2030 and, in May 2024, HLPFI reported that Haropa Port has five sites which were ready for industrial development.
