CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal in Spain has acquired six eco-efficient rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes as part of a long-term plan to renew 30 percent of its yard machinery.
The hybrid RTGs enable a 40 percent reduction in fossil fuel consumption. They feature a load capacity of 41 tonnes and a lifting height of up to 18.1 m.
The RTGs are equipped with advanced lithium-ion battery technology, a power management system that monitors charge level and overall battery status, and an eco-efficient diesel engine that charges the batteries when needed.
CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal said that it has earmarked more than EUR34.5 million (USD37.6 million) over the next eight years for the modernisation of its facilities and upgrading its machinery.
