September 28 - Ukrainian operator Antonov Company (Antonov Airlines) has been granted broad air charter exemptions for flights to and from the USA by the US Department of Transportation (US DOT).
These exemptions follow the US-Ukraine Open Skies agreement which became effective earlier this year. The US DOT has also tentatively granted Antonov Company a foreign air carrier permit.
The Antonov Company no longer needs to obtain US DOT statements of authorisation, following non-objections from US operators (apart from US cabotage flights).
Normal US Customs notifications and approvals are required for flights. Two weeks ago, HLPFI reported that Antonov has severed all ties with Russian enterprises, including its long-term partner Volga-Dnepr Airlines, according to reports in the Ukrainian media.
