September 5 - Altius' projects division has transported various heavy lift and over-dimensional cargoes for the VGO deep conversion complex project in Volgograd, Russia.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company in charge of executing this upgrade project is the Spanish company TR Group - Initec Plantas Industriales.
Some of the heaviest items transported for the project included an 867-tonne and 1,116-tonne reactor, with a length of 40 m and diameter of 8.5 m, as well as a fractionation column weighing 501 tonnes and measuring 68 m long.
All of the units were loaded onto a heavy lift vessel in Italy, before being shipped to Russia's Kazkav Port and transhipped onto river barges for the journey to Volgograd.
The cargo was unloaded at a jetty close to the refinery, and delivered to the final job site on SPMTs, before being installed onto their foundations.
Altius is a member of the WCA Projects network.
