March 27 - ALE has completed the transportation of 11 engines from Port Louis, Mauritius to Madagascar.
The engines, which weighed 57.2 tonnes each, were transported from the port to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (SSR) International Airport, using six axle lines of conventional trailers.
Once all the engines were delivered at the Mauritian airport they were loaded onto an Antonov AN-124 aircraft and flown to Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, Madagascar, where they were offloaded, with assistance from Volga-Dnepr, the aircraft operator.
The next phase of the project see the units transported 36 km by road from the airport to a heavy fuel oil power station in Antananarivo. The engines will be transported using eight axle lines of self-propelled transporters (SPT), after which they will be installed using a jack and slide system.
