K5 Freeport & Oil Centre in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea has discharged 3,000 pipes for Noble Energy’s Alen gas development.
This is the first of two shipments that the port will handle for the project. The cargoes will be stored at K5’s facilities until they are loaded out onto a platform supply vessel.
K5 is part of the Universal Africa Lines (UAL) Alliance. The port’s facilities include two 900 m-long jetties.
Last August, K5 facilitated the discharge of an 80-tonne transformer destined for the Punta Europa power plant. Akon Logistics coordinated the delivery of the unit in cooperation with APR Energy.
The transformer originated from Jacksonville in the USA and arrived at the port on a multipurpose vessel. Along with the transformer, two 62-tonne turbines were also discharged.
