The port of Södertälje in Sweden has received the first Liebherr LHM 420 mobile harbour crane that can run on fossil free diesel.
The crane has a lifting capacity of 124 tonnes at a radius of 16 m. It is the first Liebherr mobile harbour crane to run on HVO diesel – a premium fossil free diesel product made of 100 percent renewable raw materials. According to Liebherr, the fuel does not release any new carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Robert Tingvall, ceo at the port of Södertälje, said: “The timing for us to invest in a third mobile harbour crane is perfect. It means that we can offer our customers a more efficient handling and permits continuing growth within the container segment as well as project cargoes.”
