September 15 - The Zeaborn Group has confirmed media reports that it is in the market for further acquisitions having been part of a consortium that purchased Rickmers Group's ship management activities last week.
Although the German ship owner, manager and operator declined to give details of any companies that are in its sights, nor when they might materialise, there remains plenty of opportunities in an industry that most believe is ripe for further consolidation.
Earlier this year Zeaborn, which is backed by German entrepreneur Kurt Zech and his construction company, Zech Group, completed the takeover of the business operations of Rickmers-Linie and MCC Marine as well as NPC Projects, and has since acquired a number of Rickmers ships.
