September 22 - Van Beest - manufacturer of Tycan, Excel and Green Pin lifting equipment - has acquired the majority of the shares of Irizar Forge, based in Spain.
According to Van Beest, Irizar Forge has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities that produce heavy-duty crane hooks, blocks and related accessories with a lifting capacity of up to 5,000 tonnes.
Irizar Forge develops tailor-made solutions for offshore and onshore applications in the oil and gas, construction, marine transport, industrial processing, nuclear, mining, hydropower and steel industries. Design, manufacturing, inspection and testing is all completed in-house.
Richard Meer, member of the board of directors of Van Beest, said: "With the acquisition of Irizar Forge, Van Beest acquires a strong and well respected company in the lifting and mooring industry. It will not only expand our market position but will also increase the manufacturing footprint of Van Beest through the addition of a world-class production facility."
This is the second acquisition Van Beest has announced this month, following its takeover of Load Solutions adding the Tycan brand to its product portfolio on September 8, as HLPFI reported here.
Van Beest says this latest agreement is a major contribution to its mission of worldwide leadership in mooring, lashing and lifting equipment for the onshore and offshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) industry and original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
