At Tema Port, Ghana, the first phase of the newly built terminal three has opened for commercial shipping activities.
The Meridian Port Services (MPS) container terminal is a joint venture between Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHPA), Bolloré Transport & Logistics and APM Terminals.
The project included the construction of a 3.5 km-long breakwater, a 16 m-deep access channel and sophisticated port handling equipment. It was developed at an estimated cost of USD1.5 billion. Two berths have been cleared for operation, with a second two scheduled to come online in 2020.
