May 4 - Turkish heavy lift and transport company Sarilar has ordered a 1,600 tonne Terex CC 8800-1 crawler crane from Terex Cranes distributor Das Otomotiv.
The deal was signed at Sarilar's headquarters in Gebze. The company has purchased almost 40 Terex crawler cranes over the past 10 years.
"Our customer is not only one of the world's leading rental companies, but also one of the most respected," saidFrank Bardonaro, Terex Cranes managing director global sales. "Based on the triangle formed by Sarilar, Terex Cranes and our local market distributor Das Otomotiv, we are going to help Sarilar expand their global footprint so they can achieve their goal to compete in a higher league."
The CC 8800-1 has a 108 metre main boom plus 108 metre luffing jib. Manufactured at the Terex facility in Zweibrücken, Germany, delivery is scheduled for the second half of this year.
Sarilar is planning to use the crane for the Izmit Bay bridge project, the construction of a power station, and plans for a third bridge linking a 44 km stretch between Ankara and Istanbul over the Bosporus - all great project opportunities to put the CC 8800-1's unmatched lifting abilities to the test.
"This new contract is a package that opens new doors for our company," said Hanifi Gürbüz, founder and chairman of Sarilar. "Our primary objective of putting our company's signature on today's most impressive infrastructure projects is now within our reach."
"Our company aims to use 100 percent domestic funding to support projects in Turkey and abroad. Machines of this quality are few and far between. Our new crane's cutting-edge abilities will be a strong asset in securing our country's economic success and keeping more capital within our country".
"We were extremely impressed by the detailed information that Terex provided us on all aspects of our enquiry. For us, Terex is clearly the leading manufacturer for cranes this size, but the presence of Das Otomotiv also proved to be a decisive factor. We have been working together for several years and they have a great track record in product support and their skilled product support team is pivotal in the success of our future growth."
Das Otomotiv will carry out service support, training and maintenance. For Das, this will involve crane erection and set-up, parts supplies and warranty services.
