June 20 - The Project Cargo Network (PCN) has unveiled its first member in Ghana and Peru, and welcomed a third member in Qatar.

In Ghana, Allship Logistics, has joined. Established in 1990, Allship is wholly Ghanaian owned with five branches. Its head office is located in Tema, a logistics gateway to West Africa.

Allship Logistics claims long experience in the shipment of construction plants and machinery, such as transformers and turbines; rolling cargoes; static machinery, such as mining equipment; building materials, such as steel; and chemical products for mining.

Over the last decade the sales and deliveries of complete industrial installations to the sub region has increased and Allship's involvement in project cargo transportation has increased steadily, it says.

In Peru, Continental Global Cargo SAC becomes the PCN's first member.

On joining PCN, Newton Saldaña, managing director of Continental Global Cargo said: "We need to count on highly professional companies with good expertise in handling project cargo. Peru is a growing country with a stable financial situation and many companies want to develop in our country."

According to Reuters, Peru is the world's second largest producer of copper and silver and sixth largest gold producer, with minerals accounting for 60 percent of its exports.

Peru has become one of Latin America's fastest growing economies in recent years thanks to strong metals sales and more recently to a boom in domestic consumption and lending. Peru's finance minister and central bank president both expect gross domestic product (GDP) to expand by 6 percent for the year, beating official forecasts. PCN is delighted to have recruited such a good representative in this important market.

Finally, in Qatar, Conxion Logistics & Heavy Equipment has joined PCN.

Conxion was established in 2000 and says it offers effective solutions for the transportation of cargo, heavy equipment, or industrial products within the State of Qatar or throughout the GCC.

The company began as a small unit of Al-Aafaq Group with 12 trailers in operation and now boasts a growing fleet of tractor units, trailers, and heavy equipment ranging from forklift units to heavy cranes.

The photo below shows a recent project for Qatar Petroleum that Conxion successfully transported. The supplier was Hyundai and the cargo was moved from Ras laffan seaport to the client's yard.
