April 15 - Southampton, UK based yacht transportation specialist Peters & May has seen a significant boost in demand for its part-charter yacht shipping services.
Peters & May's primary business has been built around liner services, however the global recession and changing customer demand has forced the company to offer alternative transportation solutions.
"With more focus on keeping the delivery costs down, the part-charter option has become more popular and we have responded by offering our own solution," commented chief executive of the Peters & May Group Dave Holley, adding that "the end result is a cost effective part-charter solution that maintains the high levels of service and openness offered on our liner solutions."
The firm's part charter service was first offered into Northern Europe and the Mediterranean last season - Peters & May filled 22 cargo ships using the service. During 2012, despite a poor global economic outlook, Peters & May shipped over 3000 boats on its liner and part-charter services.
"In the last two weeks alone we have booked three complete vessels full of yachts. Now we are taking the same part charter shipping model to our USA office and they will be focusing on developing the US East Coast to West Coast market," added Holley
