December 27 - Qatar-based JSL Global has coordinated the delivery of four disassembled gantry cranes from Hamad Port to Essen, Germany.
JSL said it completed the project at short notice, as the shipper's original forwarder failed to deliver an acceptable solution given the budget and time constraints.
The cranes were originally imported into Qatar on a temporary import basis and had to be re-exported before December 2017, in order for the client to retrieve its duty deposit and bank guarantee from Qatar Customs.
The complete shipment comprised of 20, 40 ft open top containers, four 40 ft flatracks and eight 27 m-long girders.
JSL had to work closely with Qatari Customs officials as the over-dimensional cargoes required special approval and inspection prior to re-export.
Most of the gantry crane components required repacking for transport. JSL coordinated the loading of the cargoes onto open top and flatrack containers using a suitable crane, as well as lashing, chocking and securing of the cargo.
JSL also organised extra-long trailers, police escorts and route surveys in order to move the eight oversized metal beams from the client's site to Hamad Port.
