September 16 - John Klekotka, chief of engineering and planning at the Port of Everett, has been appointed to represent public ports on Washington State's Transportation Improvement Board.
"Ensuring we have a strong, safe and functional transportation infrastructure is something that I am particularly passionate about," states Klekotka, who begins the role immediately and will serve until June 2018. "My focus in representing the Washington ports will be ensuring that we keep freight in mind as we move forward with critical transportation improvements."
Klekotka has worked for the Port of Everett since 2000, holding responsibility for the gateway's USD25 million annual capital project budget.
The Transportation Improvement Board is an independent state agency, that distributes and manages street construction and maintenance grants to 320 cities and urban counties throughout Washington State.
