Florida’s Worldwide Terminals Fernandina has selected the Octopi terminal operating system (TOS) as it modernises its port infrastructure.

The operator of the port of Fernandina will implement the Octopi TOS, developed by Navis, to monitor, manage and improve operations at the terminal.

Designed to improve vessel planning and gate operations, the software can track cargoes moving between truck, vessel and rail; share real-time data; and can automate processes such as customer billing and inventories.

According to Navis, Worldwide Terminals Fernandina handles 300,000 tons (272,100 tonnes) of breakbulk cargo annually as well as containers and project cargo. The implementation of the Octopi TOS is part of a USD10 million investment to modernise and expand automation at the port as well as its terminal infrastructure.

“We are excited to continue our foray into the smaller terminal and mixed cargo market through this partnership with Fernandina,” said Martin Bardi, vice president of global sales, Octopi. “We look forward to being an asset to Worldwide in managing its operations more efficiently and are eager to aid in their continued success at the terminal.”
