The port of Dundee, part of the Forth Ports group, has extended its main project cargo berth – Prince Charles Wharf – to over 310 m.
The heavy lift operational area along the quayside spans 50 m x 45 m and features a quayside crane with lifting capacity up to 1,500 tonnes. New fenders have also been installed along the entire quayside.
According to the port, it is becoming increasingly involved in the project logistics activities that are associated with the construction of offshore wind farms as well as the decommissioning activities in the UK Continental Shelf.
The quayside heavy lift capability, as well as 60 acres (24.3 ha) of laydown space, enables the port to handle the transport and storage of large project cargoes.
