The Buss Terminal in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, has been selected as the base port for the foundation structures that will be installed at the Hornsea Two offshore wind farm.
Approximately 140,000 sq m of the 250,000 sq m heavy cargo terminal will be used for the project.
Buss Terminal Eemshaven won the tender offer issued by DEME Offshore in February and is now responsible for the handling, storage and terminal logistics of 165 monopiles and transition pieces. The monopile foundations weigh up to 1,230 tons (1,115.8 tonnes).
The 1.4 GW wind farm – located in the North Sea, approximately 89 km off the Yorkshire coast in the UK – will consist of 165 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines.
