July 31 - Allseas Global Logistics has launched a new dedicated airfreight division, Allair, led by the company's air freight manager, Sean Henson.
The inauguration of the specialist division follows on from Allseas gaining approval from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and is a major step forward for the company, said Henson. "This means we are now able to deal with airlines direct and raise airway bills, rather than going through another forwarder.
"We will build Allair on the back of the success of Allseas' ocean freight business, and especially out-of-gauge transport," Henson added. "We are looking at the oil and gas industry, for example, and many other clients who want a service that's second to none."
Henson expects the growth in exports from the UK to be a major driver of Allair's volumes, with airfreight demand developing alongside the country's economic recovery. "I have worked with many manufacturing companies throughout the UK which are just starting to look at exporting. There are plenty of shippers that have very little freight experience and we can help them grow their business."
