September 13 - Work has started on the construction of a new berth at the Port of Mukran on Germany's Rügen Island.

The port authority says that this expansion of the port's infrastructure will reinforce its role in offshore wind energy logistics.

A quay wall some 125 m long will have a new storage and working area, which will be partially covered and meets heavy lift requirements.

A water depth alongside of 12.5 m will allow specialist ships to moor at the new berth.

Around EUR5.1 million (USD5.7 million) will be invested in the construction project.
