February 17 - SNS International Transport has transported components for a wind turbine tower, which will be installed in Jordan's Al Shobak district.
The tower ring and accessories were shipped from the port of Barcelona, while the remaining components were loaded at the port of Bilbao, and both headed for the Jordanian port of Aqaba.
The SNS project team delivered the components, as well as supervising and receiving the cargo on site for the construction of the tower, which is scheduled for completion at the end of March, 2014.
The shipment included three 40 m long blades, three tower sections with a combined height of 127 m and weight of 67 tonnes, and a 78-tonne nacelle.
The wind turbine tower is located approximately 160 km from the port of Aqaba at an elevation of 1,250 m above sea level.
This will be the first time such a tower has been installed in Jordan, claims SNS.
