June 27 - Royal Wagenborg has transported and positioned four steel beams for the Pontsteiger project in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The steel beams, manufactured by Buiting Staalbouw in Almelo, the Netherlands, connect the residential towers of the Pontsteiger, one of the biggest and highest residential buildings in Amsterdam, designed by architectural firm Arons & Gelauff.
Wagenborg transported the beams from Almelo to Amsterdam via road and inland waterway at the beginning of June, and deployed two 500-tonne capacity mobile cranes to position the beams, which measured up to 48.5 m and weighed up to 78 tonnes each.
According to Wagenborg, while positioning the beams, communication between the crane operators was paramount, as the margin to manoeuvre was only millimetres.
