November 10 - Volga-Dnepr Airlines has completed a series of eleven IL-76TD-90VD and IL-76 freighter flights carrying 391 tonnes of relief goods to earthquake victims in Indonesia.
According to reports, around 275,000 houses were damaged by the quake and 1,250,000 people were affected as a result of the total or partial loss of their homes and livelihoods. Rescue teams from several countries rushed to the city of Padang to search for survivors and to help save lives.
Volga-Dnepr's IL-76 flights operated from Kuala Lumpur to Padang, some 45 km north-west of the epicenter of the earthquake. Capable of carrying up to 50 tonnes of cargo, Volga-Dnepr's IL-76 cargo aircraft delivered water tanks, tents, blankets and generators to the region.
