June 21 - Volga-Dnepr Airlines has deployed one of its AN-124-100 freighters to transport an 80 tonne mobile gas turbine power plant from Krasnoyarsk to the Russian city of Sochi - host city of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
The 20 m long turbine was driven into the hold of the AN-124-100 using a long ramp extension, which reduced the loading angle and allowed Volga-Dnepr's load masters to safely position it inside the aircraft's cargo hold without damaging it.
Volga-Dnepr used a special protective covering to strengthen the AN-124-100's cargo hold deck, and distribute the weight of the power plant, .
The delivery was completed on behalf of Russia headquartered Instar Logistics.
