March 27 - Russian freighter operator Volga-Dnepr Airlines has completed a series of flights delivering sports equipment for the 2012/13 Biathlon World Cup from Holmenkollen, Norway to Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
Approximately 20 tons (18.1 tonnes) of equipment, including skis and guns, was shifted using the airline's IL-76D-90VD freighter aircraft. Given the time sensitive nature of the shipment, air freight was chosen as the most reliable method of delivering the cargoes on time.
Upon completion of the competition, Volga-Dnepr carried the equipment back to Norway and Germany.
The customer for the charter was UgraMegaSport, the Biathlon World Cup organiser.
