The cranes are ESP.5 Gottwald units from Konecranes. Each has a reach of 46 m and a lifting capacity of 100 tonnes, boosting VCT’s ability to handle increasing volumes of containerised, bulk, general, and project cargo in the region.

The cranes are expected to streamline operations, leading to faster turnaround times for vessels and trucks, as well as improved safety, and further port efficiency. They are the first of their kind on the island and are  projected to boost Ilolio Port’s competitiveness and efficiency as a trade gateway for the Philippines’ Western Visayas region.

Along with the cranes, VCT has purchased new reachstackers, trailers, prime movers, and empty container handlers. The terminal is also expanding its bulk operations with additional bagging machines, clamshells, and mobile equipment.

VCT is a part of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI). In January 2024, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) awarded ICTSI a 25-year concession contract to operate and transform the Iloilo Port into a modern and efficient trade gateway.
