April 6 - The Port of Vancouver USA handled more than 7.49 million tonnes of cargo during 2016 - eight percent more than the port's 2015 record of 6.95 million tonnes.
Exports during 2016 rose 14 percent year-on-year to 6.32 million tonnes. Overall, imports declined 17 percent during 2016, but there was in increase in wind energy component imports.
Operating revenue for the port fell from USD38.2 million in 2015 to USD35.9 million in 2016, which was attributed to currency fluctuations and the global economy.
The Port of Vancouver USA said it has logged record tonnage for the past three years, and 2017 is shaping up to be another good year. Cargoes such as automotive, steel, minerals, wind energy components and grain continue to bring in solid numbers.
