April 28 - Van der Vlist has delivered three parts for a large telescope from St Petersburg to Zelenchukskaya in southern Russia.
The parts were shipped from their manufacturer in Germany to St Petersburg, where Van der Vlist collected the parts, each of which measured 6.58 m long and 4.28 m wide, and transported them 2,500 km south to Zelenchukskaya.
The load required a police escort for the journey to ensure safe passage and for the final few metres of the transport, extra assistance was required to negotiate a steep incline leading to the telescope.
Extra tractors were also brought in to give more power in towing the parts, the heaviest of which weighed in at 23.15 tonnes.
