October 11 - The Van der Vlist Transport Group has started the development of its facilities on the Schelluinen-West business park in the Netherlands.
The first phase of construction of the business area is almost complete and several business units, including Van der Vlist Special and Heavy Transport, Van der Vlist Modular Transport and Van der Vlist Logistics, will be moving from the company's head office in Groot-Ammers later this year.
The repair and maintenance of equipment will, for the time being, continue to take place at Groot-Ammers, but the construction of a modern workshop and offices is included in plans for future permanent construction at Schelluinen-West.
Antom Stam, managing director of Van der Vlist Schelluinen, explains that the development in Schelluinen-West is in response to the group's continued growth. "We really need the extra space that Schelluinen-West provides. Groot-Ammers no longer offers enough capacity. The growth that we are experiencing also means that we are going to attract new staff, especially drivers and technicians.
"We have now purchased 20,000 sq m of land, but we also intend to expand by purchasing an additional 2 ha (20,000 sq m) on the west side," added Stam.
According to Van der Vlist, the site is centrally located near Gorinchem and is directly connected to the A15/127 junction.
