July 10 - Dutch heavy transport specialist Van der Vlist recently undertook a preservation project at its Moerdijk terminal.

In storage at the terminal is an 85-tonne Meiden generator, which will be used in a power plant in Peru. Whilst in storage, the unit requires regular maintenance to keep it in full working order, which requires unpacking and repacking the machine.

A 10-axle modular trailer was used to move the generator into one of the Moerdijk warehouses.  Technical specialists from the client, assisted by Van der Vlist, used a special four-point lifting system supplied by Van der Vlist Projecten to unload the trailer and unpack the generator before the inspection and preservation job could be completed.

Upon completion, the generator was repacked and returned to storage, where it will remain until it is needed at the Peruvian jobsite.
