September 22 - US construction machinery exports dropped 17.3 percent during the first half of 2014 compared with the same period last year, reports the SC&RA.
According to a report by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), USD8.93 billion in exports were shipped to global markets in the first six months of 2014, compared with USD10.8 billion in the first half of 2013.
Construction machinery shipped to Africa was the only area that saw an increase, with a 4.3 percent year-on-year rise. Exports to Australia and Oceania recorded the steepest decline at 38.6 percent, followed by South America which saw a drop of 33.1 percent.
Exports of construction machinery to Europe declined 25.4 percent compared with the first half of 2013, while exports to Canada slipped 4.6 percent to a total of USD3.51 billion.
Equipment being shipped to Asia declined 13.9 percent, while mid-year exports to Central America decreased 23.7 percent, and exports to South America declined 33.1 percent.
