Enercon has contracted Universal Transport to deliver two wind turbines from production sites in Northern and Central Germany to North Rhine-Westphalia, Western Germany.

Each turbine comprises three rotor blades, a nacelle, hub, generator, and steel tower sections. The heaviest component weighed 68 tonnes and the rotor blades measure almost 40 m long.

Holger Dechang, managing director of Universal Transport said: “It is their dimensions that make their transport so tricky. When manoeuvring through narrow curves and villages, precision work is required.”

The components for the first turbine were delivered at the end of June, and the transport for the second turbine is scheduled for early July.
