January 19 - Tuscor Lloyds arranged a multimodal transport of a large breakbulk case, originating in the English Midlands and going to the port of Veracruz, Mexico.
The cargo, weighing 35 tonnes and with dimensions of 15.5 x 3.7 x 3.5 m, was initially transported by road to the port of Felixstowe, and was intended to be shipped as breakbulk to Veracruz for the oil & gas industry (pictured below).
With no breakbulk services between UK and Mexico being available, Tuscor Lloyds arranged shipment of this case item onboard a container ship presenting significant operational challenges.
Tuscor Lloyds says it paid special attention and care to the safe loading of the cargo and the securing by onboard stevedores under the deck of the vessel.
On arrival in Veracruz, the cargo was carefully discharged from the container ship directly onto the customer's truck waiting in the port.
According to Tuscor Lloyds, this customer used to spend a considerable amount of money moving similar breakbulk cargo to Mexico via a breakbulk service from Belgium and was extremely happy that its cargo arrived in Mexico earlier than expected and, at lower freight rate than it would have paid via that alternate breakbulk service.
