May 22 - Heavy lift transport provider Mammoet Norway has transported the 12,000 tonne platform segment Gundrun from its Haugesund fabrication hall to a nearby barge, using Scheuerle SPMTs.
The Gudrun platform is a fixed energy processing platform, supported by a 7,400 tonne steel jacket. Built by Norway's Aibel Haugesund - an engineering company specialising in production facilities for the oil and gas industry - the platform is set for delivery to energy exploration firm Statoil during July 2013.
Aibel, in coordination with Mammoet Norway, loaded the ultra-heavy platform onto 432-axle lines of Scheuerle SPMTs, each with a load-bearing capacity of 48 tonnes. The platform was the precisely moved from its manufacturing hall; Scheuerle's electronic control technology allowed for exact positioning and movement of the super-heavy unit.
Scheuerle is a subsidiary of Germany headquartered equipment manufacturer Transport Industry International (TII).
