January 5 - Van der Vlist's Moerdijk terminal has played host to Boskalis' specialised multipurpose cable trencher, Trenchformer, over the past few months.
Trenchformer can bury cable under the ocean floor and can be used with a wide range of cable types. Van der Vlist facilitated extensive modifications to the machine, as well as multiple dry and wet tests on the quayside at Moerdijk.
Trenchformer was then mobilised to its first assignment - laying cable for a wind farm off the coast of Noordwijk. The vehicle was loaded from the quayside onboard a waiting barge and delivered to the ship Ndurance, which was modified to support the machine in its task.
Following its successful first project, Trenchformer was returned to Van der Vlist's Moerdijk storage area, where it will be assessed, monitored and tested in preparation for its next voyage.
