April 15 - Transport Systems TRANSY, a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in Russia and Ukraine, handled the difficult movement of an 80 tonne heavy turbine runner from the Ukraine port of Illychevsk to Tianjin in China.
With a tight shipping deadline, Transy elected to load the runner onto a container vessel, and claims that this was the first time that such a heavy lift shipment was carried by container ship in the Ukraine.
To obtain the necessary permission to transport the heavy lift piece via standard flat racks, Transy worked closely with the shipping line to employ a suitable loading and lashing system for the runner.
The turbine runner arrived to Tianjin, 20 days after leaving the Ukraine and was discharged directly onto a special truck-trailer, arriving at the job-site just two days later.
