November 29 - Transcar Projects says that its successful partnership with Tatsumi Shokai in Japan has helped secure the turnkey logistics award for the USD10.3 billion Barzan Gas Project in Qatar from JGC.
The QP/ExxonMobil JV project will be completed in two phases with train 1 producing first gas in 2014 and train 2 in 2015. Besides producing 1.4 billion cu ft per day of lean sales gas (mainly methane), Barzan's Ras Laffan facility will also produce about 29,000 bpd of plant and field condensates, plus ethane, propane and butane.
Barzan gas from the north field will supply clean natural gas to fuel the development of many new Qatari projects such as the New Doha International Airport and New Doha Seaport, as well as the numerous sports facilities for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In response to the positive outcome of the bid process for Tatsumi, Dean Rossiter, MD of Transcar Projectscommented: "We are really pleased and proud to have worked so effectively with Tatsumi during the bid process for this project. Their win represents an excellent result for both teams and will ensure that we enter into 2012 with a healthy work prospect for the new year ahead.
"We look forward to supporting them within our regional sectors whilst also providing resource within Qatar during the execution phases next year and beyond."
The main shipping activity will commence during the first quarter of 2012 and is expected to run through to at least end 2013.
