May 14 - Toll Group has opened new AUD86 million (USD80.8 million) depot in Karawatha, Brisbane, Australia. The new facility is the largest pallet and oversize freight depot Toll Group operates anywhere in the world.
The 43,600 sq m depot also acts as the company's new national head office for road transport, Toll NQX, and also houses Toll's dedicated fleet services and contract logistics businesses.
Toll Group divisional director Mal Grimmond said that while the new depot was more efficient and provided all sorts of benefits to employees and customers, the safety of the facility was a key feature in its design: "The new depot has been designed to provide the absolute safest working environment for our people, which is essential in a labour-intensive industry such as transport and logistics."
The Premier of Queensland, the Hon. Campbell Newman MP, joined Grimmond to officially open the new facility.
