May 19 - ALE has transported a 414-tonne container crane approximately 250 m down the quayside at the UK's Port of Tilbury as part of the London gateway's redevelopment project.
Once the crane had been taken off the rails, ALE used 24 axle lines of SPMT to move the container crane along the quayside, before rotating it and moving the unit back 45 m in order to guide it back onto the rails.
"Throughout the move, we maintained a close relationship with the Port of Tilbury and Suffolk Welding," said ALE's Carl Hodges. "This meant that we were able to design and engineer the best solution, utilising our SPMTs, beams and securing equipment for the safe and efficient relocation of the crane."
The operation was completed in three hours.
