September 26 - A Terex HC 230 and HC 275 crawler crane have been delivered to Peru's Port of Paita in order to assist in one of the largest construction operations ever performed at the port's container terminal.
Apart from being fast to assemble and configure, these machines can also be operated offshore on a vessel, said Terex, which is how the cranes were used on the Port of Paita site.
Peruvian company responsible for sales of capital goods and services, Ferreryros, placed the fully assembled machines onboard a vessel, so that the cranes could be used in activities such as dredging, placing rocks and stakes.
The Terex HC 230 and HC 275 crawler cranes, both of which have lifting capacities of over 200 tonnes, operate 24 hours a day in two shifts, and work at 85 percent of their load chart.
Located in the northern region of Piura, the Port of Paira is the second largest port in Peru with regards to container movement. Construction activity for a new container terminal began two years ago.
