February 4 - Following fabrication at SJR Group's production facilities in the Netherlands, 13 storage tanks have been loaded on board a BigLift Shipping vessel in the Port of Rotterdam for delivery to Saudi Arabia.
The tanks - nine of which have a capacity of 1,350 cu m and four of which have a 2,700 cu m capacity - were transported from SJR's facility to the Broekman breakbulk terminal at Waalhaven by barge.
Weighing over 900 tonnes in total, the tanks will be shipped on board BigLift's heavy lift vessel Happy Delta to the Jubail chemical terminal, which is operated by Arabian Chemical Terminals (ACT). On arrival in the Middle Eastern nation, SJR will install the tanks on site.
From mid-2016, SJR's new premises will be located on the RDM site, adjacent to Broekman Project Services' terminal.
SJR says that its capacity will substantially increase after the commissioning of its production hall, which will be able to accommodate the construction of tanks measuring up to 24 m in diameter and 30 m high.
With the hall next to a 150 m long quay and Rotterdam's ship canal, SJR says that it will soon be able to ship fully constructed tanks directly from the terminal to customers in the Netherlands and beyond.
