October 15 - A record number of 120 delegates from 40 countries attended the 3rd annual WCA Projects Network (WCAPN) Conference 2009 in Istanbul, writes HLPFI's Oliver Ward who also attended the event.
Technical presentations were made by the sponsors Rickmers-Linie and Beluga Group as specialist ocean service providers, together with an introduction to project aviation services by RUSLAN.
Advance International, another major sponsor, gave an interesting presentation on project forwarding in Turkey and around the region.
David Yokeum, president of the WCA Family of Logistic Networks, introduced Richard Overton to the delegates as a new vice president within the WCA Family. He will now work closely with WCAPN to further develop and service this growing network.
The event offered project freight professionals the opportunity to network amongst fellow members as well as meet industry specialist providers in both ocean and aviation.
There were both formal one-on-one meetings where delegates could schedule their day with fellow delegates and also had informal social events where they could network in a more casual environment.
WCAPN's next conference will be held in June 2010 in Barcelona.
